Join us at the Welcome Fair

Dalhousie is excited to kick off the fall semester in Halifax with the Welcome Fair on Tuesday, September 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of New to Dal 2022 programming. Everyone is invited to this free event featuring info booths for university and community groups, food, games, and more on various outdoor spaces on the Studley Campus including the Studley Quad and Wickwire Field.

In case of rain, the Welcome Fair will be held in the McInnes Room, Student Union Building.

DSU O-Week

O-Week is a series of Orientation events coordinated and hosted by the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) for new incoming students in Halifax. Passes are on sale now through the DSU website. Please contact the DSU directly if you have any questions specific to O-Week.

Food on campus

Food trucks will be at the top of University Avenue outside the Killam Library during orientation events September 1–3 and are open to everyone. Residence dining halls will open Saturday, September 3 at 4:30 p.m. for dinner service.

Dal Bookstore

Dalhousie Bookstore hours for Labour Day weekend:

  • Halifax: Saturday–Monday: 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Truro: Saturday only: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

DalCard

The main DalCard office in Howe Hall (6230 Coburg Rd.) will be open on Saturday, September 3, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Regular hours are Monday–Friday 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.

DalCards can be picked up in Truro at the Enrolment Services Centre (rm. 256, Cox Institute) on Saturday, September 3 between 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Fast-track advising for new students

The Registrar’s Office is offering fast-track advising for new students (and returning students transferring to a new program) by appointment or walk-in from September 6–16 for topics such as admission, transfer credits, scholarships, and financial aid. For all other services (e.g. Athletics & Recreation, Student Health & Wellness, academic support, etc.), please refer to the appropriate website for virtual and in-person information/hours of service.

COVID reminders

Masks will be required in all indoor classrooms and instructional spaces. Masks continue to be welcome in other indoor spaces and are strongly recommended in libraries and learning commons as well as gathering spaces where physical distancing may be difficult.
